Boiler Contractor Recommendation for Rummer
Hi Stan,
I am a colleague of JD and she provided your email address as a contact for all things Rummer. My wife and I purchased a Rummer home in Lake Oswego two years ago. Our boiler that feeds the radiant heat system is in need of replacement. We have interviewed two boiler contractors thus far and thought it would be wise to get an opinion about what other Rummer owners have chosen to do with their boiler replacements. The condensing boiler we have learned is a unique beast among boilers, and there are maybe 3 companies with extensive experience installing these in the greater Portland area. We would appreciate any recommendations you might have on this issue.
Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

Robben & Sons Heating is one that I found that has the Rinnai Gas Condensing Series. There's only 5-7 companies that make Gas Condesing Boilers that are 95% efficent or higher. You can find the full list of all manufacturers here: http://downloads.energystar.gov/bi/qplist/boilers_prod_list.pdf
Gas condensing boilers are more expensive than standard boilers, but some of the models can also heat the domestic water without additional equipment. So think about the cost of switching to an HE boiler and waterheater VS a single condensing unit. In addition they will last longer because the efficency causes them to run less. They are also much smaller that current boilers, they are the size of a large sized suitcase and hang on the wall. This will free up much needed space in your garage or utility room.

We went with Anctil Plumbing and bought the Little Munchkin. We've had it almost 3 years now and it's working great.

JB: We have had ours replaced by Robben Oil in Portland. There aren't too many options I fear. Good luck.

We have been very happy with All Temp Professional, Inc. They are not cheap, but they really know these systems and do very good work.

Call Joe at Rainbow Heating: great prices, great service, nice people.
